Home/Solar Maintenance/100-Point Inspection
Solar Maintenance Division

A written record of what your system is actually doing.

The 100-Point Health Inspection is a structured walk of the entire installation — array, roof, conduit, electrical equipment, and monitoring — ending in a photo report you keep. It is the appointment that answers "is my solar okay?" with evidence.

Coverage

Seven areas, one report.

Every checkpoint resolves to pass, monitor, or act — and anything marked "act" comes with photos and a recommended next step.

01

Modules

Cracks, delamination, discoloration, hot-spot signatures, backsheet condition, soiling pattern, and shading that has grown in since the install.

02

Racking & Attachment

Rail alignment, clamp torque indicators, mid and end clamps, grounding hardware, and any movement at attachment points.

03

Roof & Penetrations

Flashing condition, sealant integrity, standing debris, drainage paths, and the roofing material around every mount.

04

Conduit & Wiring

Support spacing, UV degradation, exposed or sagging home-run wiring, connector integrity, and strain relief at the array.

05

Electrical Equipment

AC and DC disconnects, junction boxes, rapid shutdown devices, labeling, enclosure condition, and corrosion at terminations.

06

Inverters & Optimizers

Fault and error history, ventilation and heat conditions, mounting, and module-level device reporting where the system has it.

07

Monitoring & Production

Portal access confirmed, communications verified, and recent output compared against the array's expected profile for the season.

The Report

What you receive afterward.

  • Checkpoint-by-checkpoint results with pass / monitor / act status
  • Photographs of every finding, referenced to its location on the array
  • Notes on anything that may still be covered by workmanship or product warranty
  • A prioritized recommendation list separating maintenance from electrical work
  • A written estimate for any licensed electrical work the inspection identified
Why it matters at year two, not year ten. Workmanship warranties from the original installer, product warranties from the module and inverter manufacturers, and roof warranties all have windows and documentation requirements. A dated photo report is the difference between a warranty claim and an out-of-pocket repair — and it is worth having before the original installer disappears.

Inspections are also the honest starting point when you are buying or selling a property with solar on it. Neither side benefits from a surprise on the roof after closing.

Questions

Inspection questions.

How long does the inspection take?

Most residential systems take a couple of hours on site depending on array size and roof access, plus report preparation afterward. You do not need to be home for the roof portion, but we will want portal access for the monitoring section.

Do you inspect systems you did not install?

Almost all of them are. We have no stake in defending someone else's workmanship, which is exactly why the report is worth having.

What if you find something serious?

You get photos, a plain explanation, and a written estimate for the corrective work. If it belongs to a warranty rather than to us, we will say so and give you what you need to make that claim.

Can I combine it with a cleaning?

Yes, and it is the most efficient way to do it — one roof access, and the modules are inspected clean rather than through a layer of dust.

When was the array last looked at?

If the answer is "not since it was installed", start with the inspection.
